Synopsis

Directed by Saturday Night Live alum Kyle Mooney, this gory and nostalgic techno-horror comedy takes a twisted "what if" look back at the turn of the millennium. The story is set on New Year's Eve, 1999, and follows Eli and Danny, two awkward high school juniors who decide to crash a massive high school party. Eli’s main goal for the night is to finally confess his feelings and hook up with his crush, a cool hacker girl named Laura. However, when the clock strikes midnight, the infamous "Y2K bug" doesn't just glitch the computers—it causes every piece of digital technology worldwide to instantly achieve malicious sentience. From deadly Tamagotchis and rogue VCRs to a giant, towering monster made of amalgamated electronic scrap metal, the machines stage a brutal uprising to wipe out and enslave humanity. Trapped at the party turned bloody slaughterhouse, Eli, Laura, and a bizarre group of surviving teens must rely on retro hacking skills, pure luck, and an unexpected team-up with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst to fight their way through a mechanical apocalypse and save their town.
